Newton, Monty Name: Montgomery Newton, 15th Earl of Tytherington Montgomery Newton, known as Monty was born into a prestigious British family. Educated at Eton and Oxford he was a bright young man, prone to deliberating the meaning of life. 1973 he met Klara Palethorpe at a Blue Peter bring and buy sale, she was manning the tombolla. Monty won a tea-cosy knitted by Mrs Moult from the local post office and decided that fate had brought them together. They were married several months later in the family chapel. In 1976, their first son arrived who would become one of the world’s most famous medics, Dr Newton. On the death of his father in 1981 Monty inherited the Earldom and the west wing was sold off to raise funds for inheritance tax. Disillusioned with life he and Klara became involved with the secretive Mathmos sect. They joined the sect in 1982, relinquishing their title and giving all their money to fund the building of the Divine Temple Of Mathmos in Southern France. It was in this temple that they were blessed with their second and third children, Esme and Gaspode. The couple were well respected within the Mathmos community and Monty rose through the sect’s ranks to become the Sacred Keeper of the Power Lead, a senior position within the church, responsible for ensuring the Blessed Power of the Mathmos was never lost. During the ancient rite of the Midday Illumination, a religious festival which happens only once every 152 years, the entire church congregation was electrocuted. Newton, Esme and Gaspode escaped death as children were not allowed to take part in the ceremony. Monty and Klara are buried in Southern France in the grounds of the derelict Temple.
